Unifrog and Work Experience
Gaining real-world experience in the workplace is a valuable part of a young person’s education. Work experience helps students develop confidence, independence and important employability skills such as communication, teamwork and time management. It also gives students the opportunity to explore potential career paths, understand workplace expectations and apply what they have learned in school to real-life situations. Experiencing a professional environment can help students make more informed decisions about their future education, training and career choices.
At King’s Academy Binfield, students complete two dedicated work experience placements: one week in Year 10 and a second week in Year 12. Students are encouraged to take an active role in planning their placement and are asked to find their own opportunity in a field that interests them. This helps them develop initiative and build connections with employers. The Careers Team at KAB provides guidance and support throughout the process, helping students identify suitable placements, offering advice on contacting employers, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to benefit from a meaningful and rewarding work experience.
We use the Unifrog placements tool to manage work experience placements for students in Y10 and in Y12. Once students have taken the intal step of finding a suitable placement, they will need to use this tool for all further administration linked to their placement. The tool communicates with the employer and parents / guardians to ensure that we have all the information we need to support students to have a safe, engaging and meaningful work experience placement.
This short video explains how the tool works, and is useful if your child is in Y10 or Y12 and they are not sure what to do next!
