A Curriculum designed to link to the world of work

At King’s Academy Binfield, we recognise the importance of linking classroom learning to the wider world. In line with Gatsby Benchmark 4, careers education is embedded across the curriculum so that students understand how the knowledge and skills they develop in school can be applied in future careers. Teachers regularly highlight the relevance of their subjects to different industries and professions, helping students to see the value of what they are learning and how it connects to real-world opportunities.

Careers learning is also brought to life through a range of engaging events, workshops and experiences across different subject areas. For example, students take part in STEM activities such as the Resistant Materials RC car workshop, where they explore engineering and design concepts through hands-on learning. In English, immersive experiences such as the Macbeth theatre workshop allow students to interact with professional actors and gain insight into careers in the creative industries. Students also have access to virtual apprenticeship workshops across a variety of subjects, helping them to understand different pathways into employment. Alongside this, careers-focused displays around the school highlight possible career routes linked to subjects and celebrate a wide range of industries, ensuring that careers conversations are a visible and regular part of school life.
