Head of KAB6 Welcome

Dear parents/carers,

At KAB6 we are committed to giving every student the opportunities, tools, and support they need to truly 'be remarkable' - now and beyond the Sixth Form.

Our trust-wide vision of 'Honesty, Faith and Courage' continues to encapsulate and drive the provision we offer Post 16.  Our mission is to help students excel academically and personally: to prepare them for university, apprenticeships and careers with confidence and purpose. We are passionate about championing each individual student and working with them to do whatever it takes to help them achieve their goals. Our students have gained the qualifications and experiences to enrol on courses at Russell Group Universities; including Medicine, alongside competitive apprenticeships.

At KAB6, our ethos is to create the conditions for our students to ‘be remarkable’.  We seek to do this through collaboration: working together to establish a tradition of excellence where students are excited to immerse themselves in their studies and in the wider opportunities offered both within the academy and outside of it.

Every student benefits from our academic coaching programme, which provides personalised guidance to help them build on their strengths, explore ambitions, and prepare for the future they want. Students receive bespoke support from their tutors and this is tailored to ensure students receive the right support at the right time. We also have a dedicated careers advisor, Tim Swithenbank, with whom all students are invited to attend  1-1 sessions for individualised support.

Our Sixth Form offers a wide choice of A Level and Level 3 subjects taught by expert staff. We are proud to offer courses such as Philosophy, Textiles, and English Language (and we are proud to be one of the only sixth forms locally to offer all of these) alongside a vast array of other courses, delivered by subject experts who are passionate about their teaching.

We also facilitate a range of enrichment and super-curricular opportunities such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), ASPIRE, English Speaking Board, and Sports Leadership. The ASPIRE programme is bespoke to KAB6 and gives students an opportunity to experience undertaking academic research, alongside developing professional networking skills with professionals from a range of settings such as finance, journalism, motorsports, and IT.

We support students to explore their future pathways, with trips to universities, work experience, and apprenticeship guidance provided at numerous points throughout their time with us.

Students are frequently given opportunities to engage in the wider academic community. We have had a number of students attend the Eton Summer School Programme, alongside involvement with workshops at Wellington, such as their Student Leadership Conference, or their Oxbridge Support Sessions.

We offer a broad range of trips and external visits to help our students to be successful on a global stage. These include visits to Cambodia and (this year) Nepal with Challenges Abroad, Snowdonia, Iceland, and more. All of our trips are designed to compliment students' learning and develop their experience of the wider world.

By working closely with students and their families, we instil pride, ambition and a strong sense of belonging within both the King's Academy Binfield, and KAB6 communities.

We are passionate about our provision here at KAB6 and would welcome prospective students (and parents) to visit the academy to see what life is like for our sixth form students.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Chloe Jackson-Foot
