Important Update: Admission Arrangements for September 2027
Trustee Decision Report
King’s Group Academies has officially confirmed the admission arrangements for King’s Academy Binfield for the academic year starting September 2027. This decision follows a formal statutory consultation process undertaken between 6th October and 24th November 2025 conducted by Bracknell Forest Council on behalf of King's Group Academies. This included consulting with stakeholders, including local community members, who raised concerns. These have been carefully considered and form part of the due diligence taken by King’s Group Academies in reaching the decision to proceed with the proposed changes to ensure a stable and cohesive educational journey for pupils in our schools.
Key Changes and Rationale
The update to the oversubscription criteria is the formal introduction of feeder school priority. The Trust believes this strategy is essential for:
A Through-School ethos, ensuring a more seamless transition by aligning the educational and curriculum journey for students moving within the Trust.
Community stability, creating a more predictable support network for families.
Addressing Community Concerns
We wish to provide clarity on the following areas raised during the consultation:
The catchment remains a fundamental pillar of our criteria. Data analysis over the last three years confirms that geographical proximity will continue to be a primary factor for local children who choose King’s Academy Binfield.
The Trust found no evidence that these changes will significantly increase travel distances, as the identified feeder schools are in close proximity to King’s Academy Binfield.
There is no increase in the number of pupils on roll and, as such, there is no likely increase in the perceived increase in traffic.
The new arrangements are clear, objective, and fully compliant with the 2021 School Admissions Code.
Data from the last three years show a consistent intake pattern. For the 2025-2026 academic year, the top feeder school was King’s Academy Meadow Vale.
The Trust is committed to monitoring local demographic trends closely. In line with wider regional data, there is a declining birth rate and a decrease in primary school numbers across Bracknell Forest.
If evidence in the future suggests that local children are at risk of losing places, the Trust will consider consulting on an increase to the Published Admission Number (PAN) from 210 to 240 to ensure we meet local demand.
