"Books and doors are the same things. You open them, and you go through into another world." Jenette Winterson

At King's Academy Binfield and King's Academy Oakwood, reading is of the highest priority within our curriculum and beyond. Daily whole class story time, phonics sessions, reading lessons, book fairs, World Book Day, sponsored reads, teacher recommendations and our reading spine support to raise the profile of reading in school.

Below you will find links to our 'World Traveller' (age 7 - 11) reading passport and the 'Executive Club' (age 9 -12) reading passport. These passports help children to pick high quality texts to read linked to a range of genres. It ensures that children are reading widely and are introduced to a range of authors.

You will also find our list of Spine Readers which are read to children during story time every day. Particular thought has been given to books that promote Equity, diversity and inclusion.
